Beyond the Court
At United Tennis, we believe development extends far beyond the baseline. Our Beyond the Court programs are designed to support young athletes academically, socially, and emotionally, giving them the tools to succeed both on and off the court.
Language Programs
In collaboration with Alliance Française, we provide students with low-cost, virtual language classes led by certified and degreed instructors.
We’ve partnered with Winward Academy, a research‑based academic support and college readiness platform, to bring high‑quality after‑school learning resources to our students. Through this collaboration, United Tennis participants get access to Winward Academy’s proven curriculum and tools that help strengthen foundational academic skills, study habits, and confidence, and support long‑term success in school and beyond.
Spanish
In collaboration with the University of Madrid, Spain, we offer low-cost virtual language classes. These online courses allow students to learn from certified instructors, improve language skills, and gain cultural knowledge—all from the convenience of home.
English For Parents
In collaboration with Read With Malcolm’s Share the Magic Foundation, we provide an 8‑week literature program that inspires a love of reading and strengthens literacy skills in our students. This program leverages engaging reading activities and Share the Magic’s proven approach to help children grow as confident, enthusiastic readers.
Educational Programs
Chinese
In collaboration with the NC Tennis Foundation and Jinqiong Huang (B.S. in Chinese Language and Literature), we offer low-cost, in-person language classes in Gastonia, NC. These classes are supported by Fit and Healthy and provide students with hands-on learning to strengthen language skills, literacy, and cultural understanding.
We offer English language programs for parents and adult members of our community, many of whom are Hispanic. These classes provide essential language skills to help families integrate into the community, communicate effectively, and better support their children in tennis and daily life. The program also fosters social connections and helps parents engage more fully with the sport and local events.
